St Anton, Austria
Follow the thump of "Anton aus Tirol", or look for the thousands of skis stuck in the snow outside. Inside, the music is earsplitting and dancing on tabletops in ski boots is de rigueur. Literally packed to the rafters, it's the most raucous ski bar in Austria's most raucous ski town. It's even more fun when you leave—good luck staying upright on those slushy turns after a few Red Bulls and schnapps.

Elsie's Bar
Zermatt, Switzerland
The doors don't open until 4 p.m., but it doesn't take long for the fashionable crowd to fill this famed two-story chalet, across from the Zermatt church. Among the culinary delights is the unexpectedly sublime pairing of spaghetti and caviar—washed down with Krug, of course. More traditional snacks are on the menu: cheese, oysters and escargots, to name a few.

Chesa Bar, Chesa Grischuna
Klosters, Switzerland
Once a favorite among Hollywood greats such as Audrey Hepburn and Orson Welles, the Chesa is now decidedly anglophile. Yes, Charles, Wills and Harry do apres here. When they're not around, the Brit-heavy crowd is happy to carry the day with their substitute royal attitude. It's cheers and down the hatch here, mate.

There's no better salve for the aches and pains than a pint—or two—of Moose Drool Brown Ale. That goes double (or triple) if you conquered the infamous Corbet's Couloir without ending up in a stretcher.

Boys and girls behaving badly—the essential après ski experience! Crash on comfy couches surrounded by would-be models and the strapping young men they attract, sipping on a stiff Pimptini. When the stick-thin ski bunnies make you feel horrible about yourself, switch to Botox Martinis. Despite the name, there's no medicinal value—except for the alcohol, that is.

Here, trustafarians and their scruffy but adorable dogs can stand elbow-to-elbow with local bold-names such as Tom Cruise. There's a 19th century mahogany bar, a red velvet couch, and a pool table... and plenty of Fat Tire to make those trust-fund kids more charming.

At this, the epicenter of Whistler apres ski, a logjam of young skiers and riders come together for pints of Granville Island Honey Lager. And don't miss the "sex cheese"—their version of fondue. In the background, it's a never-ending loop of extreme ski videos and reggae jams.

The all-American athletic spirit of Vail looms large at the Tap Room, where the Coors is cheap and a discussion of the day's hillside heroics compete with "the game" blasting on a dozen televisions.

No one would mistake "the little caribou" for a haute couture hide-out, and that's exactly how they want it. When Intrawest remade Tremblant a decade ago, they were smart enough to leave this place alone. Arguably the wildest ski bar in North America, Le P'Tit Caribou is consistently jammed with hard-partying locals known for staging all-night, impromptu dance parties. Looking to relax after a spine-crushing day on the slopes? The Caribou may not be for you.
