THE TOP TEN monthly spending plans
Each month for most of us (unless you are still paid weekly) you need to allocate a budget to pay your rent and bills (electricity, water, gas), purchase some food, health and well-being - the extra can go towards clothes, social events and eventually renew the interior design of your home.

1
Grocery
Certainly the one which will be on the top of the list. Of course, there are several places and ways to buy food. It can be online and then delivered to your doorstep. According to where you live you might just go "around the corner" to your independent. Otherwise, the supermarket will provide what you want/need and there should even be a delicatessen counter.
2
Rent and Bills
This is possibly the big chunk of your salary going out. For some it is almost half of the monthly income. The recession is not helping as most items are increasing in price except your actual wage.
3
Clothings
Fashion is something important for a lot of us. With the regular LFW (London Fashion Week), and the buzz on social media, money spent on haute couture can reach incredible amount, whether it is for a top or just an accessory such as a belt or a wallet.
4
Health and well-being
Health shops such as Holland and Barrett supply a wide range of goods to suit everyone with even rare quality products. But, there are also yoga classes, pilates sessions which can increase your monthly costs.
5
Cinema
It is always good to escape your cosy living space for an evening per month (or eventually two) and watch a film; whatever the topic. People like to dream and imagine being part of a story.
6
Interior design
Changing the look of your home interior is always exciting. This can be done with a low budget too. Some home owners/lodgers like to use recycled items. Others have a certain idea in mind. The safest choice would be to wood furniture. Why? Because it is versatile. It can be polished, varnished or stripped then painted. Check Shop4Furniture website to get some ideas.
7
Social events
You don't have to spend a lot of cash to have a fun day/evening out. Sometimes simple is best: boardgames and soft drinks can be very enjoyable too. Meeting for a social event with friends is good to exchange views and debate about life situations.
8
Public transport
Going to work, shopping and out socially means paying for public transport, unless you have your bicycle. This would then be very cheap. Not everyone is comfortable about riding a bike in a busy environment, despite of all cycle paths available. An Oyster Card in London is the best way to regularly commute as it will keep the cost down.
9
Electronic device
Everyone has a smartphone and the other tablet. There is a high price to pay either to purchase it or to keep the monthly contract running... even if some network providers are trying their best to give good deals such as unlimited text or data usage.
10
Concerts and gigs
A live music event can be more affordable than a cinema ticket (£5 vs £7.50). Going to a local gig will also lift your mood/spirit after a long/difficult and stressful week at work. We all need a moment to relax and recharge our batteries. This is a unique moment which can be shared via the beats and sounds of your favourite band.
