1
Get a map!
While most of the venues are central, there are a few random ones that might be a bit harder to find. Make sure you have a festival map on you at all times to avoid getting lost/missing the show!
2
Pace yourself
If you're out for a night on the town during the festival, it's worth remembering that a lot of pubs and clubs get a 5am license for the occasion. It may be worth remembering to pace yourself if you plan on staying out all night otherwise things could get messy.
3
See the free shows.
While there are plenty of shows at the Fringe that charge you to see them, there are also loads that don't! If you're a bit strapped for cash, why not check out some of the free shows? Some of them are better than the ones you pay for.
4
Explore Edinburgh
While the shows are the main point of the Fringe, why not use the trip to Edinburgh as excuse to explore the rest of the amazing city? There is loads to see and do that isn't Festival related, so get out there!
5
See the fireworks
Even if you don't have tickets to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, you can still see the fireworks that close the event every night from pretty much anywhere in the city. Make sure you see them at least once, as they are pretty epic.
6
Hit the beer gardens
If you don't have any specific plans for a night, why not hit one of the many beer gardens that pop up around Edinburgh during the Fringe. Big ones like the one is Bristo Square are great for people watching and soaking up the Festival atmosphere.
7
Get crepes at a silly time of night
One great thing about the festival is food stalls pop up all over the place, and one of my favourite is the crepes stall. You can get loads of fillings, but my favourite is Nutella. Great end to a night out.
8
Get the bus!
If you get taxis around Edinburgh during your trip, chances are you'll be skint pretty quickly. Almost everywhere in Edinburgh is reachable by bus, and a lot routes run right through the night. So if you're looking to save money, definitely hop on a bus.
9
Hit the Royal Mile
If you're looking for a sneak peek of what shows are going to be like, need some inspiration for what to go and see, or just want to get involved with the Festival spirit then hit the Royal Mile. It's jam packed with Festival type people all day long and there's always something to look at.
10
Don't forget the important things!
Travelling to Edinburgh is an amazing experience, but don't forget the important things like single trip insurance, your passport and your hotel booking when you're heading off on your travels. Otherwise, you might not even make it to Edinburgh!
