The country is called as the Spice Isle due to its leading producer of various spices, such as nutmeg, wild coffee, orange/citrus peels, allspice, mace, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon. The nutmeg on the flag of Grenada represents its economic crop. Grenada is the second largest producer of nutmeg in the world (after Indonesia).

Location of Grenada
Grenada is situated northeast of Venezuela, northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Original inhabitants
Historically, the original inhabitants of the modern-day Grenada are the Arawaks, who were wiped out by the Caribs.

Discovery
In 1498, the country was discovered by the coloniser, explorer and navigator Christopher Columbus, naming it Concepcion.

Rum
It is also known for a lot of its rum distilleries. The three largest companies are River Antoine, Westerhall, and Clarke's Court, of which all provide educational tours demonstrating the sugar production for rum. These rum distilleries are situated on different parts of the country

Cuisine
The national dish of Grenada is 'oildown'. It refers to a dish that is cooked in a coconut milk until the entire milk is absorbed, and leaves a small amount of coconut oil in the pot's bottom. This kind of dish is a usual tradition of a family as well as in gatherings at the beach.

Music
Festivals, dance, and music are also extremely significant. Reggae, calypso, and soca set the mood for the annual Carnival activities in the country. The tradition of story-telling with folktales that bears both French and African influences is also an important aspect of its culture.

Main tourist destinations in the country include the Belmont State in St. Patrick, which has an authentic and unique 17th century plantation that offers visitors to participate in and observe the workings of a functional historic plantation.

Concord Waterfalls, consisting of 3 waterfalls; Seven Sister Waterfalls, a group of seven waterfalls; the Grand Anse Beach, most popular beach in the country; and the Bay Garden, a tropical garden with rainforest style.

It is approximately four miles from the capital of Grenada, St. George's.
