Perhaps it is not the most exciting thing to do but we guarantee that looking at airplanes setting off can be quite interesting. Airports can also be full of amusement so don’t be afraid to take pictures and join thousands of other bored travellers on Twitter and Instagram. Remember to add: #airport, #getmeoutofhere or #instagood if the picture is particularly good.

Window Shop

Check out what the airport shops have to offer. Look around the beauty department and smell some perfume or try the most expensive moisturiser they have. Go around different shops and try on clothes you wouldn’t normally look at. And don’t worry too much about what the shop assistant is thinking; will you see them ever again?

Answer e-mail and surf the web

Answer e-mail and surf the web – many of us use smartphones and tablets and there are many wi-fi hotpots at the airport you can connect to. There are always some flagged emails you meant to answer a while ago and waiting for your departure is the perfect occasion to reply to at least some of them. You can also look around for an internet café, where you can also grab something to eat or drink.
